Jesse

Chess introduced me, as a kid, to a world that felt like pure thought. It’s a lonely and dangerous place. You get high there. Accolades offer the illusion of direction. I pursued philosophy and got some letters after my name; BA at
Shimer College, MA from the University of Jena, Ph.D from the University of Heidelberg. Then I returned to chess to get more letters, GM.

Lisa can be read as an attempt to explain what I, and many others, experience in chess. A way of bringing the interior darkness and joy into the light. A way for me to understand myself.
